VENICE, Italy (CI Africa) — Countess Chiara Modica Donà dalle Rose, filmed by Capitol Intelligence/CI Africa using CI Glass, announced the launch of the BIAS 2026 “Isola D’Arte” biennale of contemporary sacred art at Bragora in Campo Bandiera E Moro in Venice.

At the launch, Dona dalle Rose announced the biennale will take place from July 8 to September 12 at the family’s historic Donà dalle Rose Palace and Bragora in Venice before moving in November to Dakar, Senegal as part of the Leopold Senghor Foundation’s Festac Africa Renaissance (co-created in 1960 by Senghor and Pablo Picasso).
BIAS will then move to Malabo, the ancient capital of Equatorial Guinea, from December 19 to January 10, 2027.
The Foundation of Donà dalle Rose is hosting the first official Pavilion of Equatorial Guinea titled “The Forest, the Undergrowth” at the Venice Biennale at the Palazzo Donà dalle Rose until November 22, 2026.
Donà dalle Rose said BIAS is inspired by Vasili Vasilevic Kandinsky’s writings on the spirituality of art.
The BIAS biennale—the world’s first and only art event that divides participants into “spiritual pavilions” rather than physical, geopolitical borders—takes direct inspiration from Kandinsky’s famous 1911 manifesto, “Über das Geistige in der Kunst” (Concerning the Spiritual in Art).
The countess also announced an open call for artistic submission and participation for BIAS 2026 Biennale in Malabo from September 5 to September 30, 2026, with the application form already published on the www.bias.institute website.
The submitted artworks must be completed pieces that are suitable for transport. It is important to consider that BIAS 2026 will be the inaugural international art exhibition held in Equatorial Guinea.
The BIAS 2026 is also receiving kind support from the Fondazione Orestiadi; Fondazione Sicilia; Fondazione Transformatorio; the MuMe di Messina; the contemporary art museum of Sicily Belmonte Riso; the ATI Yoga International; and the Consortium of Porto Rotondo of Sardegna. BIAS is also supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign, Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Culture.
